2023 SEPTEMBER, CONFERENCE ‘ON SURRENDER AND UNIVERSALITY’ AT THE SEVILLE SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE
A CROWD
Thank you, thank you very much. I must admit that I was excited when I entered the packed assembly hall of the Seville School of Architecture on the morning of 28 September 2023 to give a lecture on my work, entitled “On Surrender and Universality”.
In front of me, a crowd. It was packed, with many people sitting on the floor, filling all the aisles. The older people said they had never seen that assembly hall like that. This is clearly shown in the photos accompanying these letters.
I had said yes, invited by Professor José Joaquín Parra Bañón, to form part of the tribunal for Eva Luque’s doctoral thesis on the 29th. I was asked to give the lecture on my work on the 28th. I said yes, but I could never have imagined a crowd like that. They said it was the most crowded lecture hall ever. I can only thank the attendees and the organisers for their extreme generosity towards me.
