Alberto Campo Baeza

Alberto Campo Baeza, emeritus professor at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and Full Member of the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando, gave the lecture ‘A hombros de la técnica’ at the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos on 8 May 2024. In it, he spoke about the close relationship between architectural ideas and their construction, commenting on a selection of his works.

‘I want to defend that technique must be there from the first moment of architectural creation, from the first idea. Project and construction cannot be understood as different phases because for an architect they are essentially the same thing: Architecture.’  Alberto Campo Baeza

The lecturre was the master class that closed the course of Construction Systems of Professors Alejandro Cervilla and Irene Ros group, and was attended by a large number of students of the Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Architecture of the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos and many professors of the School. The presentation was given by the director of the University’s School of Engineering, Professor Francisco Javier Simó.
